Update – Taking my sweet time again with the next Noumenal chapter

Hello and apologies for more annoyance!

I reviewed my upcoming chapter with the writing partner as I said I would – I couldn’t bring myself to release what I’d written on sunday night. That was because, even before my discussion with my reviewer confirmed it, I felt there was something missing from the scene.

Without spoiling too much, the upcoming chapter is the first point the story really begins to come together – where Peter Stout is (perhaps unwittingly) offered an opportunity to process his grotesque new surroundings and Alroia’s motives with the odd sylvan boy are made clearer. This moment would kick off the “journey” for real…so it can’t be served undercooked. That was the verdict yesterday – The characters dynamics were not yet fleshed out enough, the description of the call to action lacking a prosaic kick. It also doesn’t help that it’s one of my longer chapters yet – close to 4000 words. Still, know I’m persevering.

I acknowledge now that I’m not the best writer on this blog. I struggle to hit my self-imposed deadlines. I need exterior assistance to understand what’s clear and what’s not. My characters could be a good deal more consistent. I’m still a rash, young man. I’ll learn by percivering with this.

Anyhoo, I’ll get this chapter done eventually, even if nobody else reads it. If it’s this weekend, it’ll be this weekend – that is my target, but not a promise. Sorry for the wait, as always!

If you’ve had a good weekend, let’s hope your week follows suite. See you!
