NaNoWriMo writing vote last day and daily prompt to piss people off

Alright everyone – this is the last day to vote your focal character of choice in for my writing project this november! At the moment, it seems like “Miscellaneous” is going to win (having the singular valid vote over the rest). If you do not want this, like the post you’d prefer – if you can’t be arsed, get on with you life!

…….

Yes, this is going to be a daily prompt post too. I could’ve just killed one bird with this stone, but I’m feeling bloodthirsty today!

*Insert prompt link here – I couldn’t get it to work today*

Today’s daily prompt is about careers – aside from the possibility of being a novellist (fat chance), what other paths have I considered?

When I was little, I had an absolute lack of imagination for my career path. For many years, I didn’t want to be an astronaut, a fireman, a farmer or anybody who contributes anything meaningful to society. No, I wanted to be a videogame designer – because I liked Mario a bit more than any normal kid (but not as much as SOME people on the internet) and wanted to make my own similar adventures.

However, over the years, I became increasingly aware of how high the requirements are for this occupation, not least after trying some coding myself, as well as becoming disenchanted with how inevitably bloated the market is. I came to realise that many, many well designed games are ignored because of their unconventional genre (e.g. historical detective sims) for either the Triple A stars often trite produce (E.g. Pokemon scarlet etc), shoddy softcore shovelware (e.g. Every Koei game) or the current flavour of overrated hype game (E.g. Friday Night Funkin’).

Thus, I was compelled to abandon my hopes for this market and move to a similarly bloated, brutal market with the above issues – albeit marginally less overcrowded at present – of novel writing!

Other than that…I have considered being a farm caretaker if all that fails. My family owns a property that will probably need taking over in the future which I’ve had quite a fair bit of experience maintaining. Ensuring that the public have somewhere to grow food locally is definitely a meaningful enterprise – maybe I can at least work it on the side? Also, should I not be made for novel writing, I can just become a journalist.

A terrible fate, one I probably deserve.

So, what career paths have we got before us? DO we want to lay a vote for my NaNoWriMo project? Do you want me to go fog myself? Let me know!
Have a good week. Vote winner in about ten hours.
