Weekly Short 1 – Beneath Porcelain

Good morning!

Thus begins my very first real piece of prose that I’ve posted on this blog – a short story! I’m going to be honest with you, I kind of cheated a little bit with this one – this piece was kind of a conglommeration of two pieces I wrote for my August “Writing workshop” Curtis Brown Course, based on the following prompts:

  1. I worked all summer behind that counter.
  2. Mrs Lake was the most cooly elegant woman I’ve ever met – and Frankly I was terrified of her.

I’ve bound it together with a few extra paragraphs explaining the setting of the world (very occult-y) and overall tidied up some of my shodding spelling™, so I hope you enjoy it!

Worth mentioning now that there’s no real dodgy content in this piece worth a warning and I doubt my style of writing will be too upsetting to warrant many of them, but I will probably mark out any such things in future to be on the safe side, ‘kay?

Again, all credit to Curtis Brown Creative for the 2 prompts I used to write this story. Let me know what you think of it, if you’ve got the time/effort/care or simply just enjoy it privately to yourself! I’m off to university tomorrow and I hope my written motivation persists!

Have a lovely Monday, if you can!
