The return to University – Final reminder about upcoming routine.

Hello All.
Sorry about the recent inactivity – I haven’t done my promised Advice entry, nor any stupid prompts or even an art piece for around a week, and even the previous entries for the past fornight have been,er, pointless. Aye, this is a portent…a portent of change coming for my blog. One that you may remember me rambling about a while back.

Starting next week (tuesday t’be exact), I will be back full-time studying at university. This means I will not have absolute freedom to update this blog anymore. Heck, even preparing for uni has taken up all my time as of late – thus the lack of recent posts! However, do not despair! This doesn’t mean I’m abandoning this blog, no matter how sour a cesspit it might be. In fact, I’m thinking of renovating it and arguably becoming more committed to it! From now on, I will be doing WEEKLY activities to flex my writing: you’ll actually get to see and – if you can be arsed – review the stuff I come up with!

The changing times – Ben gets his dung together.

First of all, I’ll go over my new established routine – I will be making around three posts on this blog per week on 3 fixed days. This is a promise – if I miss out a writing day, you can jolly well call me out and/or even unsubscribe. Thus, this calls for a list (Whoopee!):

  • Mondays – A short story. I’ll be posting a little bit of my prose around Monday evening, likely based off a prompt. If the latter, I’ll credit the idea-giver at the end: I am exempt from using anything from university course, keep in mind! The story itself will be between 750 to 1500 words long. I’ll be producing a variety of stuff – some pieces (easier to write) might be related to “Sophont memories”, others might be standalone pieces which, who knows, might become novels of their own some day! I will be starting this next week – your first piece will come before I even take the first train to university.
  • Wednesdays – Book review. Exactly what it says on the tin – I’ll be giving my inane thoughts on a book I’ve recently read, be it preferably fiction or a fiction piece, short or long. This should hopefully spur me to read a range of different novels at a healthy pace so i can continuously fuel you with commentary – always good for a budding writer. I really need to read more novels, t’be frank.
  • Sundays – Advice/updates. Depends on what’s going on. if I’ve designed an interesting character to promote my developing novel or reached a certain milestone, I’ll be letting you know. That said, I ought not to spoil too much now, or it’d be no fun to read my book when it comes out! Thus, other times I’ll just be pontificating like an idiot about writing related things: what works, what doesn’t, what’s hot and what’s lumpy and cold like stale porridge NOT. Advice I provide here, again, won’t be stuff I’ve just learnt in university, since that’s just petty leaking, but might be in regards to curiosities I’ve found online. Anything goes.

Now, I will let you know if I’m approaching a period of exams and can’t post anything in advance. I’ll also be obliged to tell you if I’m too plain disorganised to manage a day of blog writing and apologise profusely for missing an opportunity like a moron. On the other hand, if I’m feeling extra creative, I might release more’n three pieces per week for your viewing discomfort! What’s a promise is that you’ll be getting something – I’m not ghosting anyone.

Hope you’re all coping well with life – I’m a tad nervous about the return to academia myself. A writer’s life can be surprisingly stressful, would you believe it? Years of poor posture and inecessany scribbling/typing can take a grand toll. Even if you’re working for a light blog like this, don’t let it go to your head. Take responsible breaks, seek comfort from people in person. Blogs often entail cataloguing our lives, but please – keep healthy boundaries and don’t vent about anything too private! Believe me, I know some nasty case studies regarding those who exposed too much about themselves online. Don’t take the risk. Also, don’t be a dong to people online either. Don’t start a chain of flamewars.

Have a good night! Here’s to a new term of novelry!
