Good evening! Did you have a good day like I promised?
If not, that’s fine. Can’t have one every day. I’ve decided to make a quick post right now to show you a little drawing I’ve made of one of my Novel protagonists – Naerun, the virgadian.

(I spent 2 hours on this for pete’s sake – Nearly 30 minutes of this on their right grasper!)
Naerun is actually one of my older characters – they go back to an earlier concept of my “Alien novel” which was to focus exclusively on plant-like aliens and their world. It entailed them getting into one hell of an identity crisis and getting infected by a rather ominous flavour of mould. That was before I went loopy with making lots of alien cultures. Yes, I know Naerun is hardly the most ambitious design for a sentient plant, but I’ve got some more creative ideas for other races under my belt.
Fun fact – Naerun’s name is denoted from the arabic word for mint نعناع, which is what they effectively smell like in universe. Virgadian communication is scent-based, so a figure’s name is based off their innate musk. This musk is determined by genetics and resembles that of family members – it’s a bit like a odiferous thumb print, come to think of it.
If any of you want me to make some rough lore files for my aliens, feel free to ask. I’ve made a ton of notes on the main three of my Novel (Virgadian,stargazers/Docerocracy, Anidd). I’ll try and fill my novels with plenty of such trivia, don’t you worry! If you want to see more of my art too, just let me know.
Have a good night!
