Another day, another prompt; “What are you most excited about for the future”? Weel…I would not call myself the most optimistic person for any long-term predictions of the future, not least because it’s always surprising us in strange and morbid ways. I mean, let’s face it: you can never predict with any accuracy what’s happening next year, let alone in a decade or more – even with best insight available! I mean, I thought a certain “Insectoid video game sequel” was coming out this summer last year, but that has certainly not been the case. (It’s alright though, Team Cherry. It will be worth the time!)
In truth, the only future I can be excited for is the the immediate future, and within this time scale is only highly tame stuff. Like doing a homebrew roleplay campaign with friends or a jaunt up north. Sure, the future holds a lot of potential the further your scope is, but if we only keep out heads in the distance we won’t appreciate what’s happening about us imminently. It is the present where we make the necessary change for the futures we desire…even if said plans don’t often work to a tee.
